An Italian restaurant is closing after serving customers in Soham for a whopping 25 years.

Sergio’s, in High Street, will close its doors on Saturday as its owners, Sergio Verducci and his wife, Annette, are retiring.

Father-of-four Sergio said: “Sergio’s has been trading for 25 and a half years and we’re going to miss all of our customers so much.

“The time has come for us to retire as we no longer feel 21 - but we have mixed emotions as running the restaurant has been the best time of our lives.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their support over the years.”

The restaurant has been bought by the owners of Naz Indian Cuisine, who plan to re-locate there from their current premises in Churchgate Street.

Sergio said: “I wish the guys from Naz all the best - they’re great people and are popular here in Soham.”
