Ely Cathedral has starred in many Hollywood blockbusters including Oscar-winning The King’s Speech and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

It’s welcomed the likes of Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen.

For Elizabeth: The Golden Age, the cathedral’s 12th Century Lady Chapel was transformed to become the great hall of Whitehall Palace in Westminster, which was the centre of Government and state ceremonies as well as the Queen’s main home.

It had another brush with royalty in 2009 when Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter came to the city to film The King’s Speech.

And Natalie Portman filmed The Other Boleyn Girl at Ely Cathedral in 2008.

Hollywood heartthrob Liam Neeson spent a day filming at the cathedral for The Other Man, directed by Sir Richard Eyre, which also starred Romola Garai.
