Tyler Goodjohn is ready to conquer Danny Connor

Tyler Goodjohn is licking his lips at the prospect of facing old foe Danny Connor in an English title eliminator next month.

The contest at London’s ExCel Arena on December 14 will complete a trilogy of fights between Wentworth light-welterweight Goodjohn and Hackbridge hitter Connor with the pair having won one apiece of their previous meetings.

Goodjohn, 22, who stopped Andrei Hramyka last month to win the International Masters belt, beat Connor on points in their initial showdown two years ago only to lose in the same manner when they clashed again for the British Masters welterweight title last year.

Connor, 27, went on to win the Southern Area light-welterweight crown only to lose it last month with Goodjohn going on to collect the
British Masters at the lower weight in March.

Goodjohn said he had turned down the chance to box for a WBC Inter-Continental title to settle his unfinished business with Connor.

He said: “I wanted this fight more than anything because I just want to get revenge on him and then I can put it to bed and then go for the English title.

“It’s been on my mind for the last year-and-a-half and I just want to get it done and get that off my record. I just want to impress and forget about it forever.

“He’ll be determined because his career depends on this one. He’ll come and have a go because if he loses, it’s all over for him.

“Boxing News said our last bout was one of the fights of the year, but that was on a small hall show.

“It’s great that it will be at a massive venue like the ExCel and being shown live on Sky Sports.”

But Goodjohn is searching for sponsorship to help cover the costs of his training camp in the build-up to the bout while tickets range from £40 to £150. For more information on sponsorship or tickets call 07950 685475.
