Mike Sawyer was fuming with the decision to stop Callum Gibson after just 20 seconds of his encounter at a show in March.

The Haddenham & Ely scrapper was caught cold by R Oldfield from host club Fenland Sparta, but coach Sawyer was angry Gibson was not given a chance to respond and made an official complaint about the referee. He said: “Callum had never even come out of the corner and got caught, but the referee just stopped it when he could have given the boy a count.

“The referee went to grab Callum’s hand when the result was announced and I just took him out of the ring.”

Callum Francis and Sonny Moss box in Billericay tonight.
