Joe Asensi and Kojo Ofori are both in contention to face Whitham Town on Boxing Day after signing for Soham.

Asensi, 20, returns to Julius Martin Lane after being released by Histon earlier this month, having originally played for the Greens in the 2012/13 season.

Winger Ofori, 28, played in the Welsh League for Caldicot Town last season, and has also played for Enfield Town, Ilford, Royston and Leyton Orient.

Joey Abbs was taken off as a precaution in the weekend’s win at Harlow Town, but Soham boss Steve Fallon is optimistic his groin injury will have healed in time to play Whitham.

Fallon added: “We’re only a couple of points off fourth or fifth, so a win would put us right up there.

“We’re on a good run of form and we need to push on in the new year, and we’re more than capable of doing that.

“It will be tough. Whitham are one of the form teams and I could see them winning the league.”
