Haddenham hitter Callum Gibson is ready to pull the strings

Callum Gibson will aim to square things up when he takes on home boxer Ryan Ducker at a show in Chatteris tonight.

The Haddenham & Ely scrapper was forced to pull out during their previous clash last season after sustaining a nosebleed that proved too tough to staunch.

But coach Mike Sawyer is hopeful Gibson will do the job this time.

He said: “I don’t know what happened, but it wouldn’t stop bleeding so I couldn’t let him go out for the next round. If he boxes how he should box, he should win.”

Clubmate Riley Smith comes up against A Dykstra from Bury St Edmunds’ Eastgate ABC on the same bill while his brother Nathan also searches for his first win.

Sawyer said: “Riley has got an older boy and I think it will be quite a good challenge for him.

“I still fancy Smithy to beat him because he will if he boxes how he can and hopefully Nathan will win as well.”
