More leaders are desperately needed to safeguard the future of Scout troupes in the Ely area.
Around 500 children and young people are currently involved with the Ely District Scouts and the waiting lists - whether they are for the Beavers, Cubs or Scouts - are ever-increasing.
But a number of groups across the district are at risk of folding unless more adult leaders get involved.
Among the troupes desperate for more leaders is the 3rd Ely Scouts.
Lynne Sharper-Edwards, 3rd Ely Group Scout Leader, said: “We really are desperate for more leaders.
“We’ve had to send letters to all the parents warning them that the future of the group is at risk unless we get more.
“The situation is the same in a lot of troupes across the Ely district - we have plenty of children and young people but not enough adults involved.”
Mum-of-two Lynne, 29, said: “It’s so sad because none of us want to see any groups closing in the area.
“Being a Scout leader is extremely rewarding.
“If your child is involved in the Scouts it enables you to really bond with them, but even if your child isn’t it’s fantastic to see the smiles on all the children’s faces.
“A lot of people think it will be a massive commitment but it really isn’t.
“You basically put in whatever time you can spare - even if that’s a couple of hours a week - and it’s like everything really, you get out of it what you put in.
“We really don’t want to see any of our troupes, or any at all, having to close due to a lack of leaders so we’re urging people to come forward and help us out.”
All leaders have to be over the age of 18 and CRB checked.
