Two cleaners who have been keeping a school’s classrooms and corridors tidy for almost 50 years between them are retiring.

Ann Bye, 74, has been a cleaner at Witchford Village College for 25 years and Milly Anderson, 69, has been there for 21 years.

After a combined 46 years, the dedicated duo, who both live in the village, will be hanging up their pinnies and retiring this week.

Milly said: “We both love our work and will miss it but our bodies are telling us it’s time to retire.

“The teachers and pupils are fantastic and we will miss them. It’s amazing as we’ve been there so long that we see different generations coming through the school now.

“The funny thing is they still all refer to us as ‘Miss’.”

The school is planning a retirement party for them this Friday.
