Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been lending a helping hand in their local communities.

To celebrate Scouting’s Community Work Week, groups from across the Ely area pulled up their sleeves and put in a hard day’s work.

Ely’s Explorer Scouts, made up of young people aged 14-18, helped to clean the Stretham Old Engine ready for the arrival of a film crew, whilst Scouts from Ely worked together with students from Ely’s special school, Highfield School, to improve the sensory garden on the site in Downham Road.

Scout leader Caroline Spaxman said: “It was brilliant to see the Scouts and the students from Highfield working together and enjoying each other’s company.

“The work they did will really improve the sensory garden and we are hoping to maintain a link between the Scout troops in Ely and Highfield School with other projects in the future.”

New Scout leaders are also always needed.
