Plans to refurbish and expand an “outdated” community facility in Soham have been given the green light.
Soham Town Council applied for planning permission to revamp and extend the Walter Gidney Pavilion, in Fountain Lane, in August.
The proposals have now been approved by East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The plans will see part of the 19th century building being demolished and replaced with a rear extension.
The council also wants to spruce up the hall, get rid of the basketball court at the site, create a new access and make the car park bigger.
It is hoped the work will increase use of the building.
