A care home in Littleport could be expanded.

East Cambridgeshire District Council has received plans for the Old Vicarage Residential Home, in Church Lane, to be extended.

The proposals, submitted by Mr M Paling, involve building a two-storey extension on the side of the historic building to provide an additional 20 en-suite bedrooms.

The home currently has 14 single rooms and four shared rooms.

In a statement to the council, the applicant said: “It is felt that the proposed works will not affect any of the neighbouring properties and will not harm the character or appearance of the church.

“The proposals will double the size of the property to allow for further occupants to reside there.

“The good size garden and parking spaces will also be achieved.”

A decision is expected within eight weeks.
