Businesses in the Ely area are being encouraged to apply for regional funding.

MP for South East Cambridgeshire, Sir Jim Paice, is urging local companies to apply for round six of the Regional Growth Fund, for which bids are now open.

The fund is providing £3.2 billion to businesses between 2011 and 2017 to support projects and programmes which use private sector investment to support jobs and growth.

Already £90 million has been allocated to the East of England to 13 different bids, supporting 15,000 jobs.

Sir Jim said: “I would encourage local businesses to seize this fantastic opportunity.

“Creating more jobs by backing small businesses is a key part of the Government’s long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain.

“Each new job this fund supports means another family with the security of a regular pay packet.”
