Super slimmers have raised much-needed funds for a cancer charity by donating the clothes that no longer fit them.

Instead of binning or selling their unwanted garments, members of both Littleport and Swaffham Prior Slimming World groups bagged them up and donated them to Cancer Research UK.

Every bag donated could raise around £25 for the charity and this year, members of the two groups, which are run by Sharon Heaps, donated a whopping 247 bags - 172 bags more than last year.

Dawn Statham, who runs the Cancer Research UK shop in Ely, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive such a huge donation of clothing from Sharon’s Slimming World groups.

“We’re delighted that they’ve chosen to use their slimming success to raise money for Cancer Research UK.”
