Soham Beer and Music Festival starts this Friday

Written byJORDAN DAY

The Soham Beer and Music Festival kicks off on Friday (July 4).

The annual extravaganza is being held at the pavilion on the recreation ground, in Fountain Lane, on Friday and Saturday.

As ever, the festival is being organised by the Soham Staploe Rotary Club and this year’s main beneficiary will be the Liam Fairhurst Foundation – the charity set up in memory of the Soham teenager.

On Friday, the festival is running from 6-10.30pm and bands Blue Thunder, Akimbo, Basket Case and 27 Not Out will be performing.

On Saturday, the festival is open from 2-10.30pm and bands Wasteland Angels, Michael Antony, Learning to Fly, Fenland Jam and The Off-Beats will be taking to the stage.

There will also be an auction on Saturday at 6.30pm, hosted by local TV auctioneer David Palmer, to raise money for The Shade Primary School – the town’s newest school.

Soham’s Scouts will also be on hand as they will be running a barbecue during the festival.

Entry to the family-friendly event is free.
