SLIDESHOW: Jack and the Beanstalk panto is a hit

Written byJORDAN DAY

Thousands of families have been enjoying some good old fashioned pantomime fun - and it’s not too late for you to either!

Jack and the Beanstalk has been drawing the crowds to The Maltings in Ely since Boxing Day.

The show, which is suitable for the whole family, is being put on by Soham-based professional theatre company KD Theatre Productions.

Run by Katherine Hickmott and Daniel Bell, who both live in the town, it is their first ever professional pantomime.

But judging by the audience numbers and feedback, it won’t be their last.

Katherine, 21, said: “We have had some lovely feedback - we’ve been getting e-mails saying how it’s a panto for young kids as well as adults which is nice to hear.”

Katherine and Daniel, 22, set up their theatre company in secondary school.

And panto lovers don’t have to wait much longer for another taste of theatre fun from the company with plenty in the pipeline for 2014.

Katherine said: “We will be back next Christmas to do Cinderella at The Maltings - we are extremely grateful for the support we have received. It’s been a fantastic experience - hard work but great fun.”

Jack and the Beanstalk is on at The Maltings until Tuesday, January 14.
