Renowned cellist Hannah Roberts is coming to Ely this month.
Known as one of the most outstanding cellists of her generation, Hannah will be performing with her husband, pianist Simon Parkin, at King’s Ely’s recital hall, in The Gallery, on Friday, June 20.
A spokeswoman for King’s Ely Concert Society said: “The recital will open with the well-loved Sonata in G minor composed by Beethoven when he was 26, followed by the famous and lyrical Elegy by Fauré.
“An intense and virtuosic cello sonata by Debussy follows; this unforgettable piece was composed in 1915 in the early years of the First World War, just three years before the composer’s death.
“After the interval, Hannah and Simon will perform the passionate and optimistic Theme and Variations, written by 20 year old Felix Mendelssohn.
“The recital finishes with another youthful composition: the uplifting Sonata in F by Richard Strauss, written when he was 19.”
The recital starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 for adults; children are free. To book, call (01353) 653931.
