Police in 'energetic chase' across fields in Stretham after hare coursing reports


Police officers took on an “energetic chase” after a group of men were spotted hare coursing near Stretham.

Officers were alerted to the incident by a landowner at just before noon yesterday and arrived at the scene within minutes.

A police spokesman said: “At around 11.50am yesterday we received a call about persons in a field near to Stretham with dogs chasing a hare.

“Hare coursing is an offence that affects our farming community with people trespassing on their land and damaging their crops. Officers were dispatched to the area within minutes of the call.”

Police have arrested three men who were bailed.
