This incredible picture - taken by a photographer from Sutton - has been selected to appear in a wildlife calender.

Rob Mills took the striking photo of the Back Swimmer Notonecta Glauca at a local pond and entered it into the Buglife 2014 Photo Competition.

Judges were so impressed that they chose his picture to feature in the Buglife 2014 calender out of more than 1,300 entries submitted from across the world.

Steven Falk, Buglife entomologist, said: “We are delighted by the quality and variety of the photos we have received.

“With so many cameras offering good quality macro it is now so easy to discover a hidden world of beauty and functionality that is so hard to see with the naked eye.”

The calender, which costs £6.50, is now available by visiting www.buglife.org.uk.
