PCSO urges drivers not to park outside school gates

Written byJORDAN DAY

A PCSO is urging drivers to stop parking outside or near school gates.

PCSO Mags Harvey says there is an issue with motorists parking on pavements close to the two primary schools in Soham and that a child narrowly avoided being hit by a car near The Weatheralls Primary School recently when the driver was reversing on the pavement.

She says that up until now, she has been issuing warnings to the culprits, but that any driver caught flouting the law in the town in such a way will now be automatically fined.

As previously reported, the issue with drivers parking outside schools has been ongoing in the Ely area for some time.

Speaking on the community website ShapeYourPlace, she said: “We don’t want to issue a £30 fine but if we see drivers committing this offence we will have to.”
