PCSO calls for drivers to stop parking in Ely High Street on Saturdays

Parking in Ely High Street. Parking in Ely High Street.

Drivers are continuing to flout the law by parking in Ely’s High Street on a Saturday.

The city’s High Street is shut off to all vehicles from 10am-4pm on a Saturday but some crafty motorists drive down the street before it is closed and park their cars there for hours on end.

The issue has been ongoing for years but Ely PCSO Maria Robinson is demanding it stops.

She said: “It is clear from the signs that vehicles cannot park in the High Street between 10am and 4pm on a Saturday, and that any vehicles that do so are committing a ‘No Waiting’ offence, and could be issued a fixed penalty notice.”
