Ornate plaques will be subject of special trail around Ely

Written byJORDAN DAY

Some of Ely’s most historic buildings now boast ornate plaques which will be incorporated into a special trail.

Cllr Shirley Overall, a former Mayor of Ely, and her husband, Terry, have been working with the City of Ely Perspective group for some time to fix plaques onto historic landmarks and buildings in the city.

There are now six new plaques in place, including at Poets House hotel and the Old Dispensary, both in St Mary’s Street.

More plaques will be fixed elsewhere with the aim of forming a plaque trail for tourists and locals alike to follow.

The plaques were made by the Artisan Post Boxes and Signs Foundry.
