An air of pride will fill the streets of Ely on Sunday as people turn out in force to mark Remembrance Day.

At 10am, standards will parade from St Mary’s Green to Ely Cathedral via St Mary’s Street, Minster Place and The Gallery.

This will be followed by the annual remembrance service in the cathedral.

At approximately 11.30am, the standards and cadets will then parade from the cathedral via The Gallery, Minster Place, High Street and Market Place for a wreath laying service at the war memorial on Market Place.

This will be followed at approximately 12.15pm by the standards and troops parading past the war memorial and up the High Street. The parade will be supported by the City of Ely Military Band and appropriate roads will be closed.

On Monday, an Armistice Day service will be held at the war memorial at 10.45am and will be followed by a two minute silence at 11am. This will be followed by wreath laying service. The High Street, from Dolphin Lane, will be closed during this time.

In Soham, there will be a march from Soham Village College on Remembrance Day starting at 2.15pm to the war memorial for a wreath-laying service at 2.30pm.

Soham Town Band will head up the parade as it marches to St Andrew’s Church for a 3pm service.

Littleport will be holding events on both Remembrance Day and Armistice Day. On Sunday, a parade will take to the streets from 10.20am at the Ex-Servicemen’s club. It will then pass the Nightall memorial before going to St George’s Church for a 10.45am service.

The parade will then lay wreaths at the war memorial at 11.30am.

On Monday, children from local primary schools will lay wreaths at the war memorial, with a second service at the Nightall memorial at 11.20am.

And in Sutton, a Sunday service will be held in St Andrew’s Church at 10.30am. On Monday, an act of remembrance will take place at the war memorial at 10.45am.
