A man has been charged with causing a public nuisance in connection with a fatal road traffic collision.

Thomas Allen, 23, from Soham, died in hospital following the accident on the A14 at Sproughton, near Ipswich, which took place on Christmas Eve last year.

The four-vehicle crash happened at around 10.20pm. Around five or six horses were loose on the road at the time, three of which were killed in the collision.

Investigations have been ongoing ever since and on Tuesday Stacy Humphrys, of West Meadows, Ipswich, was charged with causing a public nuisance in relation to the accident.

He will appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 20.

Speaking at the time, Mr Allen’s family said he was loved by everyone who met him and their lives would never be the same.

They said: “Words cannot express the loss and devastation we are all feeling. Thomas was simply the perfect son.

“He was a kind, thoughtful, happy young man, with a wicked sense of humour. He was just thrilled with the purchase of his new car. Sadly driving this would result in his early death.

“He was liked and loved by everyone who met him. He worked at Booker Cash and Carry and had recently been promoted. Life was going really well when he tragically died. He was on the road to great things.

“He was adored by his young sister and all our lives will never be the same.”
