An annual bingo night has raised more than £800 for charity.

Dozens of residents and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service personnel turned out for the event at Littleport Village Hall last month.

The bingo night, which is organised by firefighters in Littleport, raised £810 in total for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity is an organisation which provides support to fire personnel - and their families - who are retired or still working in the UK.

Clive Allen, watch commander at Littleport Fire Station, said: “Our annual Christmas bingo night was again well attended by the community.

“All of the prizes are very kindly donated by local people and business who are always very generous which helps us make this event a success.

“It is very heart warming that in these austere times the public still dig deep for our charity.

“This one event has raised more than £30,000 for our charity in its duration.”

Organisers are already planning this year’s bingo night and will announce the date nearer the time.
