Celebrity auctioneer David Palmer is appealing for the public to help him find two of his waistcoats - and his gavel - which have mysteriously vanished.

Mr Palmer, who lives in Ely and is famous for appearing on television programmes such as Flog It!, had the red waistcoat, and a yellow one, in a Waitrose carrier bag at The Maltings in Ely earlier this month when they disappeared.

One of his gavels was also inside the bag.

Mr Palmer, 54, who is renowned for his vibrant waistcoats, said: “I was hosting a charity auction at The Maltings for ADeC and had the items in a carrier bag.

“I don’t think for one minute that somebody stole them but I think someone might have picked the bag up accidentally, or maybe even put the items in the bin.

“If there’s anybody out there who knows where they are please help me get them back.”
