Going pink sees Thorlabs raising more than £300 for charity

A company in Ely has raised more than £300 for Breast Cancer Campaign by taking part in Wear it Pink day.

Staff at Thorlabs, which specialises in the building blocks for laser and fibre optic systems and is based at St Thomas Place, went all out for the national initiative today (Friday).

Employees swapped their usual work attire for vibrant pink garments and many wore pink wigs.

Susan Lawrence, who organised the activities, said: “Everyone got really into the spirit of things and it was such good fun.

“We had lots of pink wigs and pink clothing and some of the men even wore pink nail varnish and fairy wings.

“We all donated £2 plus we sold cupcakes and held a raffle.

“In total, we raised £361, which is absolutely fantastic and I’d like to thank everyone for being so supportive.”

The company also held a bake-off event earlier this month, raising more than £140 for Macmillan.
