Firefighters called to blaze at house in Littleport

A fire broke out in a house in Littleport.

Two crews attended the blaze at the property in Washington Close at around 5.20pm yesterday (Thursday).

The incident happened while Fire Brigades Union members were on strike over the ongoing pensions row.

Fire engines were staffed by on-call staff and managers from 9am on Thursday to 9am today (Friday).

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Wearing breathing apparatus they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and returned to station by 6pm.

“The cause of the fire was accidental.”
