Fitness loving women took a quick break from their workout routines to help raise money for charity.

Energie Fitness for Women, Ely’s ladies-only gym based in Buttermarket, held a mini Christmas craft fair yesterday (Friday) to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity.

Members and visitors, including Ely’s Mayor herself, Elaine Griffin-Singh, and the city’s town crier, Avril Hayter-Smith, were able to browse a variety of stalls, including jewellery by Claire Thomas, crafts by Mellymade Designs, Christmas crafts by Lucy Hunt and homemade chutneys and preserves.

Mulled wine and mince pies were also served.

Kathy Marshall, who took over the gym earlier this year, said: “The event went really well and the turnout was great.

“It was lovely to be able to welcome the mayor along, as well as the town crier.

“We hope to have raised around £100 for the Mayor’s Charity.”
