Ely Cathedral to host Friends of Cathedral Music (FCM) national gathering

Music lovers from across the globe are flocking to Ely next weekend.

Ely Cathedral is hosting the national gathering of the Friends of Cathedral Music (FCM) from Friday (June 13) through to Sunday (June 15).

Almost 200 Friends will be descending in the city for the event, which will include a programme of services, recitals, talks and excursions.

A spokesman for the FCM said: “The FCM is an organisation whose mission it is to safeguard this priceless heritage.

“It has well over 4,000 members from all parts of the UK, and a good sprinkling of members in Commonwealth countries, in the US, and in Europe too, and it holds these national gatherings in one of our great cathedral churches three times each year.

“Nearly 200 Friends will be coming to Ely over the weekend and foreign music lovers often tell us how much they envy the wonderful choirs we have in this country.”
