Children’s author Jean Adamson MBE was on hand to meet excited youngsters in Ely.

The 85-year-old author, who writes the award-winning Topsy and Tim stories, hosted a book signing session at Burrows Bookshop on Saturday.

Annabel Reddick, owner of the bookshop, organised the event to celebrate the fact that Jean’s stories have been made into a television series for pre-school channel CBeebies.

Jean, who lives in Stretham, discovered that BBC bosses wanted to make the series last year and it went live last week.

Annabel said: “The book signing was brilliant and we had so many children through the doors.

“Jean was fantastic with the children. She signed copies of her newest book, Topsy and Tim Meet Father Christmas, and was so sweet with them.

“She said she was delighted to see her stories on CBeebies.”
