One hundred new homes could be built in the village of Haddenham.
Cheshire-based firm Gladman Developments Ltd wants to build on land south of number 18, Wilburton Road.
Hundreds of homes and businesses in the village have received a leaflet outlining the proposals and a screening opinion has now been submitted to planners at East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The screening opinion will see planners telling the developers what supporting evidence they want if and when a formal planning application is submitted, such as environmental/archaeological surveys or the extent of local consultation required.
The land in Wilburton Road is almost eight-acres in size and is currently open space.
As well as the 100 new homes, bosses at Gladman Developments also want to build a children’s play area and public space complete with “recreational facilities”.
On a website set up especially to promote the proposed development, the firm says 30 per cent of the new properties would be affordable housing.
They said: “Gladman Developments are proposing a new residential development of approximately 100 homes on land off Wilburton Road, Haddenham.
“An initial leaflet has been distributed during January to over 780 households and businesses in Haddenham.
“Haddenham supports a range of services and facilities which are used by both residents of the village and those in the surrounding rural area.
“The site is well located with good access to existing community facilities and the local public transport network.
“The proposal will provide new homes to sustain the vitality and viability of the local community.”
Gladman Developments has also recently submitted planning applications for housing developments in Lancashire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Essex, Cheshire and Oxfordshire.
