Games of splat-the-rat and ‘guess the name of the teddy bear’ were among the highlights at a primary school’s annual May Fair.
Ely St Mary’s Junior School, in High Barns, had to move the majority of activities indoors due to poor weather but that didn’t dampen families’ spirits.
The event is organised by the Friends of St Mary’s School (FOSMS) to raise funds for the school.
Ali Driver, a FOSMS member, said: “The weather wasn’t too great so a lot of the activities had to be moved indoors but that certainly didn’t spoil things.
“Everyone had a great time. There were welly throwing competitions, face painting and lots of games, including splat-the-rat and guess the weight of the lego in the jar. There was also Maypole dancing, a barbecue, stalls galore and performances from our school’s steel drum band and chamber choir.
“Ely’s Mayor, Lis Every, and town crier, Avril Hayter-Smith, also attended which was lovely.”
