Two friends have joined forces to launch a new charity fundraising group in Ely.

Michelle Taylor, from Mepal, and Kay Lowe, from Ely, will be going out of their way to raise funds for the Guide Dogs charity and are urging local residents, businesses and organisations to support them.

They are both Guide Dog puppy walkers so can often be seen out and about putting budding guide dogs through their paces.

Daniel Ingram, a spokesman for Guide Dogs, said: “There are so many ways to volunteer. We’re looking for fundraisers that can help with a street/store collection a few times a year, volunteer drivers, speakers, and collection box coordinators who place and empty counter boxes that raise vital funds.

“Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people.”

Guide Dogs is almost entirely funded by voluntary donations and needs support from volunteers to maximise its services.

Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising should call 0845 372 7425.
