The future looks bright for a community church which faced being left with no roof over its head.

The Vine Community Church in Littleport was told earlier this year that it had just weeks to find an alternative place of worship.

The church was based at the Regal Community Centre and in May its owners, local building firm Buckingham and Sparrow, wrote to all its users telling them they had to re-locate by the end of July. Buckingham and Sparrow then told the churchgoers they could continue meeting there until December.

But as of next month, The Vine will now be meeting at St John’s Methodist Church - something which Mark Banfield, pastor of the church, says is and “extremely exciting move.”

The Vine’s first service there is being held on Sunday, November 3 at 11.30am.

Discussions about the future of the Regal Community Centre are ongoing.
