Quilting was the word on craft lovers’ lips in Ely on Saturday.

Sew Much To Do, in High Street Passage, celebrated ‘Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day’ by throwing its doors open for a quilting and coffee morning.

Talented quilters were able to showcase their skills and people who have never practiced before were able to give the craft a go.

Jill Haug, the shop’s workshop manager, said: “Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day is an annual worldwide event celebrating independently-owned sewing and quilting shops everywhere.

“Our event went really well - in fact we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout as the shop was buzzing.

“We had demonstrations, displays, special offers and a super prize draw.

“There were some lovely quilts and some really exquisite displays. We’d like to thank everyone for their support.”
