The countdown to an annual event which showcases Ely’s ever-increasing number of independent businesses is now on.

Ely Independents’ Day is being held on the city’s market square on Friday, July 4.

The event is organised by Ely Chamber of Commerce, East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Ely Traders’ Association.

A council spokesman said: “If you’re a business situated within Ely or the surrounding villages, join us to showcase your business, products and services.

“No direct sales, but you will have the chance to distribute samples, promote special offers, raise awareness of your business and celebrate your independence.”

Pitches at the fair, which is running from 10am-2pm, are free, although a £50 deposit, which is returnable on the day, is required.

To book your 8ft market stall, or for more information, call Karen Dawson on (01223) 209808, email k.dawson@cambscci.co.uk or visit www.cambridgeshirecamber.co.uk.
