The countdown to one of Ely’s biggest community events – Aquafest – is now on.
This year’s extravaganza is being held on Sunday, July 6.
As ever, the annual event, which first started in 1978, is being organised by the Rotary clubs of Ely, and will be raising money for local good causes.
The highlight of the festival will be the annual raft race, which will see teams battling it out on the River Great Ouse in elaborately decorated rafts.
The theme of this year’s raft race is cycling and families are invited to line the riverbanks to cheer the teams on.
But there will also be a whole host of fun for the whole family in Riverside, Jubilee Gardens and Lavender Green, including fairground rides, stalls, live music, performances by local dance groups and musicians, arts and crafts, a beer tent and plenty of food to go around.
There will also be a free dog microchipping service this year and dog owners are being urged to take advantage of it.
Aquafest is running from 12-5pm and is free.
