Villagers in Little Downham took a step back in time - raising more than £700 for charity.

A 1950’s and 60s themed night was held at the village hall on October 19 to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society Support Groups in the Ely area.

Organisers Wendy Taylor and Sheila Burgess, who is a dementia support manager for the Alzheimer’s Society, say they have firsthand experience of the society’s support groups and know how important the sessions are to individuals with dementia - and their families.

Jacen Bruce played acoustic guitar and sang along with his daughter, Lana, supported by Bill Martin on double bass and Russ Milton on guitar.

Alison Bruce also played favourite tunes from the era during the evening. Fenland Mobile Fish and Chip Van was on site and a raffle took place with over 80 prizes.

A total of £710 was raised on the night and Wendy and Sheila would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and helped to sell tickets.
