The winner of Cambridge’s first ever Bake Off competition is to open a ‘pop-up’ patisserie in Ely.

Talented baker Fiona McDuff, who lives in Ely and works as a cancer research scientist at the University of Cambridge, was crowned the winner of the inaugural contest this summer - beating almost 100 hopefuls.

Now, thanks to the support of Your Ely, a scheme launched by local businesswoman Caroline Bailey to unite business owners and promote new business opportunities in the city, Fiona will be opening a pop-up patisserie.

Fiona, who has a passion for French-inspired patisserie, will be running the business at Spa Ely in Forehill, which is owned by Caroline, on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7.

She wowed the Bake Off judges with her ‘wonky’ sponge cakes flavoured with champagne, limoncello and passion fruit.

Caroline is hoping to support more pop-up shops in Ely. Visit www.yourely.co.uk.
