Air ambulance launched after bus crash in Ely - child among nine people assesed at scene by medics

A crash involving a bus and a car near Ely triggered the launch of an air ambulance after a child was among nine potential casualties, it has emerged.

Doctors and paramedics assessed the passengers following the crash on the A10 which happened at about 9.30am on Christmas Eve.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance was called out and Dr Fran Corcoran and critical Care paramedic Jemma Varela were flown to the scene by Captain Dave Webber and landed at 9.45am.

Nine patients were assessed before all were then left in the care of the land ambulance team and the air team returned to their base at Cambridge Airport.

The child was treated with neck pain but did not have to be taken to hospital.
